After a long time, Peta came, bringing along a half peck of parched barley and butter packed in skins. She saw the renunciate’s body, colored all over like the green of nettles, and she thought: “My brother is without anything to eat—this is the reason for his condition. That is why he is this color—he looks like a dead man.” So she thought, and she wept many tears. Then she thought to boil some cold water for soup. But when Mila Happy Report picked up the pot, he could not hold it in his hand—it slipped away and broke and a disk of dried food shaped like the pot came out. The disk rolled around and down the mountain. Many people heard that this had happened. Some heard about it and wept (‘chi ma shor), and for some, faith arose.71 Peta went to the village for him.
